Dungeon Scrawl | 2025 Year in Review

6th Jan 2026

2025 was a transformative year for Dungeon Scrawl as we worked toward providing a more powerful, accessible, and integrated mapmaking experience for TTRPG players everywhere. Today, Dungeon Scrawl's browser-based tools allow game masters and worldbuilders to create dungeons, towns, and other scenes for Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder, and other games in minutes with no skill required.

Connect to Roll20

Early in the year, we launched a massive milestone for GMs: a direct connection between Dungeon Scrawl and the Roll20 virtual tabletop. This new functionality allows you to link maps from Dungeon Scrawl directly to Roll20 campaign pages and update them in near-real time, providing GMs the creativity and flexibility of enhanced drawing tools and allowing GMs who use Dungeon Scrawl to easily leverage their creations in collaborative campaigns. Whether planning a campaign in advance or easily building last-minute maps, this solution eliminates the need to deal with exports or uploads.

Scrawl Smarter, Not Harder

More recently, the team rolled out a major interface refresh and quality-of-life overhaul based on years of collected community feedback. Dungeon Scrawl's navigation was streamlined with a cleaned-up left sidebar, grouping essential tools, using clearer icons, and offering a more intuitive workflow. Layers became easier to manage, preset styles got names, and quality-of-life improvements like background locking, better hotkey display, and adjustable toolbars now make it even easier to start scrawling.

World Building Presets

For Dungeon Scrawl Pro subscribers, we introduced World Building Presets. These enhanced layer styles allow you to add roads, foliage, water, and lava to maps with a couple of clicks, and were designed based on your feedback. Like any other layer style, they can be tweaked and customized to your exact specifications to match the theme of your maps.
